THE NOT SO SHY AGASSI
A few days ago I reported about Israel's commitment to the electrification of its infrastructure, including the electrification of their cars, a commitment expressed in its partnership with French car maker Renault and Nissan, and masterminded by Shay Agassi, a former Silicon Valley software entrepreneur.
--- While our Congress is in perpetual HYBERNATION, induced by millions of dollars paid by Chevron, Exxon, BP, etc., the not so shy Shai Agassi has become even more entrepreneurial.
--- In under two years he has managed to assemble an ever growing consortium of international governments, run by people that - unlike our Congress - understand that national security is intrinsic to the independence from foreign oil.
--- Finally, somebody in the United States got the message: Besides Israel, Australia and Denmark, Agassi managed to get the endorsement from the state of Hawaii and the Hawaiian Electric Company.
California seems not far behind as several mayors have endorsed Agassis concept.
--- As to the car makers, standing in line for bail-out money, now Ford at least got the idea. It included in its updated plan, presented December 2, 2008 to Congress, its commitment to bring electric cars to market beginning in 2011.
Our hopes are high that Ford circumvents Chevrons NiMH patents and invests in more battery research.
--- Coming to think of, we may do some patent research ourselves and see whether Chevrons NiMH patent would hold up in light of the literally thousands of patents that precede it.
--- Even BMW showed a working model, the Mini Cooper E
Meanwhile, Congress is still blabbering with little to show for. But then, how can you argue against such powerful contributions as here from Chevron to Darryl Issa or to Dianne Feinstein and so on.
