Troops solidify positions in Kokkavil
The Security Forces have succeeded in completely solidifying their positions in Kokkavil, another stronghold of the LTTE terrorists. This is the first time that the Government troops had been able to take control of the area after 28 years..
Military Spokesman Brig. Udaya Nanayakkara said troops of the 57th Division had been able to consolidate their positions in the area. The Brigadier said soldiers of the 57th Division captured the entire Kokkavil town in the Kilinochchi District yesterday. The troops have now reached the A-9 Highway from the Kokkavil area, while consolidating their positions towards the East. The troops have also captured the area where the TV transmissions towers are located. They are continuing further operations from this location..
